A Rinnai gas tankless water heater costs $900 to $1,995 for the unit alone, per Fixr's brand pricing table, updated January 31, 2025. That range spans Rinnai's full lineup, from compact non-condensing models to condensing units with built-in recirculation and WiFi. Installation, venting work and any gas line upgrades add substantially more to the total.

Fixr counts Rinnai among the higher end of tankless brands: the company makes gas models only, no electric units, and most current models include WiFi capability. Rinnai also runs its own Canadian Standards Association certified testing laboratory and every model carries American National Standards Institute approval, per the same Fixr brand comparison.
| Cost line | Range | Source, dated |
|---|---|---|
| Rinnai gas tankless unit, equipment only | $900 to $1,995 | Fixr, January 31, 2025 |
| National average, all tankless fuels, installed | $2,500 to $4,500, average $2,811 | Fixr, January 31, 2025 |
| Lower-scope gas tankless installed estimate | $1,400 to $3,500 | Fixr, January 31, 2025 |
A Rinnai tankless water heater costs $900 to $1,995 for the unit alone, per Fixr's brand pricing table, updated January 31, 2025. That is the equipment price only. Venting, gas line work and labor are extra; the cost to install a Rinnai tankless water heater guide breaks those out.

Rinnai's $900 to $1,995 equipment range runs both below and above Navien's $1,075 to $1,535, per Fixr's brand comparison table, dated January 31, 2025. Rheem spans the widest range at $670 to $1,950, and Bradford White sits narrowest at $1,000 to $1,500. All four figures cover equipment only, not an installed total.
Installed totals are driven by venting, gas line sizing and labor hours, not by which name is on the case. Rinnai's SENSEI RX condensing models reach up to 0.98 UEF, above Navien's condensing top of 0.95 to 0.96 UEF, per Navien's own condensing technology page. A UEF gap of a few points does not translate into a proportional price gap between the two brands.
| Brand | Gas unit price, equipment only | Source, dated |

| Rinnai | $900 to $1,995 | Fixr, January 31, 2025 |
| Navien | $1,075 to $1,535 | Fixr, January 31, 2025 |
| Rheem | $670 to $1,950 | Fixr, January 31, 2025 |
| Bradford White | $1,000 to $1,500 | Fixr, January 31, 2025 |

Rinnai's current residential lineup splits into five series across two efficiency tiers, per Rinnai's residential tankless water heaters page. The RE and REP series are non-condensing at 0.81 and 0.82 UEF. The RUCS, RUS and SENSEI RX or RXP series are condensing, ranging from 0.85 UEF up to 0.98 UEF at the top.
REP and RXP models add a built-in pump for recirculation, which the plain RE and RX models do not have. Higher UEF generally sits with a higher position in Rinnai's own equipment range, though Fixr's brand figure does not break the $900 to $1,995 span down model by model.
| Series | Condensing | UEF | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| RE | No | 0.81 | Compact, for small to mid-sized homes |
| REP | No | 0.82 | Adds a built-in recirculation pump |
| RUCS | Yes | 0.85 | ENERGY STAR certified |
| RUS | Yes | 0.90 | ENERGY STAR certified |
| SENSEI RX or RXP | Yes | 0.98 | RXP adds Smart-Circ recirculation |

A condensing Rinnai model uses a second heat exchanger to capture heat from the exhaust gas, which pushes UEF up to 0.85 to 0.98 and allows PVC or polypropylene venting. A non-condensing model like the RE series vents through metal and tops out at 0.81 to 0.82 UEF, close to the federal minimum.
That federal minimum is set in regulation: gas-fired instantaneous water heaters made before May 6, 2029 must reach at least 0.80 UEF for very small draw and 0.81 UEF for low, medium and high draw, per 10 CFR 430.32(d). Every current Rinnai series clears that floor; the non-condensing RE and REP series sit right at it, while the condensing series sit well above.
Condensing units also need a condensate drain line, and the PVC or polypropylene venting they use is generally cheaper to run than the metal venting a non-condensing unit needs. Both are installation line items, not part of the equipment price above. See the Rinnai install cost guide for how venting and gas line work move the installed total.
Most current Rinnai models are WiFi capable through the RWM200 wireless module, sold separately, per Rinnai's residential tankless page. The SENSEI RX series adds Bluetooth-based Smart Connect and setup through the Rinnai Central app, while RXP and REP models add a built-in recirculation pump for faster hot water at the fixture.
Recirculation runs under two different names depending on the series. RXP's Smart-Circ Intelligent Recirculation learns a household's hot water usage pattern, per Rinnai's residential tankless page. Rinnai's non-condensing HE+ line, which includes the RL series, uses a separate system called Circ-Logic, which lets an owner set recirculation to match daily habits, per Rinnai's RL series product page, accessed August 2026.
Rinnai's SE+ Series condensing models, including the SENSEI RX and SENSEI RU lines, carry a 15-year residential heat exchanger warranty, 5 years on other parts, and 5 years on labor if the unit is registered within 90 days of installation, per Rinnai's SE+ Series Limited Warranty document, dated October 2024.
Skip registration and labor coverage defaults to 1 year instead of 5, the same document states. Commercial installations carry a shorter 8-year heat exchanger term, and coverage on any application drops to 8 years or 12,000 operating hours, whichever comes first, if the water heater's temperature setting exceeds 160°F. The residential heat exchanger term itself is capped at 15 years or 12,000 operating hours, whichever comes first.
| Coverage | Residential | Commercial |
|---|---|---|
| Heat exchanger | 15 years or 12,000 hours | 8 years or 12,000 hours |
| Other parts | 5 years | 5 years |
| Labor | 5 years if registered within 90 days, else 1 year | 1 year |

$900 to $1,995 for the gas unit itself, per Fixr's brand pricing table, updated January 31, 2025. Rinnai makes gas models only, no electric tankless units. That figure is equipment only; installers price venting, any gas line work and labor separately.
Rinnai runs $900 to $1,995, Navien $1,075 to $1,535, Rheem $670 to $1,950, and Bradford White $1,000 to $1,500, all equipment only, per Fixr, updated January 31, 2025. Installed totals depend far more on venting and labor than on the brand name.
Condensing models use a second heat exchanger to reclaim heat from exhaust gas, reach 0.85 to 0.98 UEF, and vent through PVC or polypropylene. Rinnai's non-condensing RE and REP series vent through metal and reach 0.81 to 0.82 UEF, close to the federal minimum of 0.80 to 0.81 under 10 CFR 430.32(d).
Most current models are WiFi capable through the RWM200 wireless module, sold separately, per Rinnai's residential tankless page. The SENSEI RX series also adds Bluetooth-based Smart Connect and setup through the Rinnai Central app.
For SE+ Series condensing models, 15 years on the heat exchanger, 5 years on other parts and 5 years on labor for residential use, provided the unit is registered within 90 days of installation. Source: Rinnai, SE+ Series Limited Warranty, document 100000655(04), dated October 2024.
Registration is not required to validate the heat exchanger or parts coverage, but skipping it within 90 days of installation drops labor coverage from 5 years to 1 year on residential SE+ Series models, per Rinnai's SE+ Series Limited Warranty, dated October 2024.
